This is a co-founder level opportunity - not a job listing with a predefined scope. You'll be the technical heartbeat of the company, shaping our AI architecture from the ground up alongside two domain-expert founders who understand the industry deeply.

• Building a truly flexible and scalable conversational AI platform, designed to serve diverse use cases across the built environment without custom implementations for each
• Fine-tuning and evaluating LLM-based models (with a focus on Vision Language Models) to improve performance, accuracy, and user experience in a domain where hallucinations carry career-ending liability
• Designing multimodal ingestion pipelines — construction professionals work across drawings, specifications, regulatory codes, photos, and PDFs. The platform needs to understand all of it
• Contributing to platform engineering across both ML and backend systems — this is a deeply hands-on role where you'll ship code, not just architect systems
• Exploring and implementing integrations with industry-standard protocols and frameworks including MCP (Model Context Protocol) and A2A
• Collaborating directly with founders to define product direction, prioritise features, and translate domain expertise into technical capability
• Mentoring future ML engineers and establishing the engineering culture, standards, and practices that will define the company as it scales

• Deep experience with Large Language Models and Vision Language Models (VLMs) — fine-tuning, evaluation, deployment, and optimisation
• Strong understanding of RAG architectures, retrieval systems, and how to ground LLM outputs in verified source material
• Experience with multimodal AI — ingesting and reasoning across text, images, PDFs, and structured data
• Familiarity with MCP, tool-use patterns, and agentic AI frameworks
• Solid software engineering fundamentals — you write production code, not just notebooks
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) and ML ops in production environments

• Experience in regulated industries (construction, legal, healthcare, finance)

• Previous founding or early-stage startup experience
